Cement Light Bulbs

November 29, 2010

I found a neat little instructable on making cement light bulbs.  I was currently in a phase where I was interested in industrial-style furnishings.  I wanted to replicate this for my own personal use.  If you follow these instructions, you will have no problem making this for yourself.  I have some more ideas for this in the coming future. But for now, enjoy the photos.

P.S. If you are going to try this I would encourage you to resist the urge to break the bulbs too soon.  Let them cure for about a week in room temperature.  Also, I should have gotten longer lag screws.  My screws only went about an inch and a half deep.  I think they would be a lot stronger if they went deeper.  Despite putting heavy torque on it, I broke one off when I was screwing it in to the 2×6.  Just be careful!

Super Mario Post-It!

November 22, 2010

Here is a little picture that I made out of Post-It notes in the office the other day.  It is a very simple Super Mario from the old Nintendo game Super Mario Brothers.  He was a very pixelated little guy so to transfer him to Post-It notes was very easy to do.  Simply any pixel that makes up Mario is a Post-It note.  You can also use push pins on a cork board as well.  It is the same concept.  I used four colors because these were what were available in the office at the time.  Also, I used quarter sized Post-Its to save on paper; however, when we need a Post-It note in the office we just reach up and grab part of Mario’s foot or something.  If you pull this off in your own office then you will look really creative and cool!  Enjoy.
